Hi, i have water running out of my bathroom faucet handle. It's a weird modern fixture that came with this place. It only leaks cold water and i can stop the leak by turning off the cold water supply under the sink. When the cold water is on, it leaks out at a good clip even with the handle itself turned off.
This looks like a delta 500 faucet which is a basic, but good quality faucet and the most likely issue is that you have a worn cartridge. The cartridge is basically the sealing mechanism inside the faucet that opens and closes the water supply when you raise and lower the handle. So, the cartridge needs to be replaced. My bathroom faucet has leaked from the hot water side for a few months. I went to my local hardware store and got replacement ceramic valve stems and replaced both hot and cold.
Cold side is fine, but hot continues to leak. The water flows through the valve. The water does not flow through the handshower when diverter activated. And the back pressure forces the water back through the tub spout.
